Letter to Ursula von der LEYEN, President-elect of the EC, by the European Network of Councils for the Judiciary (ENCJ)

September 20, 2019

A letter to Ursula von der Leyen, the president-elect of the European Commission, sent to her by the High Courts of the member states, expresses deep concern about the independence of the judicial system in certain member states.

This ties in with our point (sub-section 1.4.2 of the Hidden Treasures book (2019), at 13-15) to stress the importance of investing in reliable courts and an effective, well-balanced judicial system.

More information, as well as the full text of the letter, can be found on the website of the European Network of Councils for the Judiciary (ENCJ).
